Barbara Beers first began assisting in the basic obedience classes in November 2003.  In August 2006, she received her trainer certification from First Class Dog Training.  Since the summer of 2006, Barb has assisted with the off-leash classes as well.   

In addition to training dogs, she also helped Hector with the copy-editing phase of the three books he authored.  Proofreading those three books certainly was an asset.  According to Barb, one of the best ways to prepare for instructing class is to read and re-read the two training manuals! 

Barb has three dogs of her own: a three-year-old German shepherd, Tinkerbell; Brisco, a thirteen-year-old schipperke; and a five-year-old Shetland sheepdog named Tica.  The shepherd and sheltie occasionally make an appearance at class.  They are both obedience trained, but a refresher class now and again is always beneficial.
